A Long Holiday

I pray each and every one of you had a great Thanksgiving holiday. I got to spend some time with my grandparents and some of my other family. I made some awesome pecan pies, though next time I'll make sure my grandfather takes all the shells out of the pecans first. My oldest ate pumpkin pie for breakfast both Friday and Saturday, but at least there was no pie to bring home. I'm just glad I got to miss watching my husband fling a dead mouse across the back yard or my grandfather getting attacked by his belt sander. Yes, these things really happen with my family!

When we got home Saturday, I plopped myself down in front of my Facebook page to catch up with everyone. I sat in shock for a good while as I stared at a message from my dad, who I haven't seen or heard from since I was 3. The truly amazing thing is that I have been looking for him for years, not knowing where to find him or to even begin looking. I was able to talk to him on the phone for about 15 minutes, but I think we were both still in so much shock, that we couldn't get much out. I did find out that I've gone from being the oldest of 3 to the oldest of 8! I'm hoping to set up some time for my brother and I to meet with him over lunch sometime soon. I'm really excited about this, and I'm sure I'll keep all of you updated as things progress.

Tomorrow: Christmas!

  6. I think I know that feeling of shock. I felt it the day I opened my myspace page (way back when) and had a message from my long lost brother. I think I would feel it again if my birth mother were to message me.

Sooo happy for you and crossing fingers that it all works out.
