Attached at the Apron Strings

I have a confession. I love aprons. When my great great grandmother passed away, we moved into her bungalow house, complete with  a lemon yellow kitchen and giant orange and brown flowered wallpaper, plus curtains to match. It was tiny in every conceiveable way, but I loved it. I aquired her aprons that had hung in the kitchen since the 1940s, along with all of her hats. I played house and dress up with those few things she left for me, and even though I don't have any of them today, I still love them and her. That nostalgia always gets me, and every time I put on an apron to cook, especially at the holidays, I think of her.

I went several years of my adult life without an apron, so when I happened upon an updated 50s pattern, I had to get it. I now have more than my fair share of aprons, and continue to make more. (Don't ask me where I find the time, because I don't know.) I made several for the recent craft show, and had quite a few left over, which I will leave here for you to ooh and aah over. If you would like one for yourself or someone else for Christmas, please let me know. They're $20 which includes shipping, and I can have them out in time for you to prance around in at Thanksgiving dinner. (Because we all know that's what you're going to do!)

  1. Oh, honey. They are too cute! You never cease to amaze me! My boss actually brought me back a Google apron from his last trip to Blog World in 'Vegas. And since I don't cook, you know that he doesn't know me at all!

  4. Those are nice! I like the cherry patch, and the cupcake patch...I'm going to stop listing designs before I leave the longest comment ever.

  5. Kathryn, that's hilarious! At least you can look like you know what you're doing in the kitchen.

    Heather, thank you!

    SuziCate, glad you like them.

Thoughtsappear, lol. That's part of the pattern, but I thought it was really cute too.
