It's Going to be a Looong Weekend...Make That Month

Well, summer is here. We're facing 100+ degree temps this weekend, when our average high is 88. Only in Texas. We got a gorgeous storm yesterday evening. Lots of rain, lightning, and thunder. The rain was desperately needed, and will be sorely missed, as I don't expect to see rain again any time soon, unless it's coming out of my sprinklers.

Today is Benjamin's last day of kindergarten. :( My inlaws want him to spend half the summer with them, which I normally wouldn't have a problem with, but we're talking full weeks at a time. I don't know if I can handle that, much less Matthew, my youngest. I'll have to discuss it with them tonight at dinner. I guess it beats paying a babysitter, because I'm broke after paying off my car.

Speaking of Matthew, I get to take him in tomorrow to find out the possibility of tubes being put in his ears. You all know the constant struggle we've had with ear infections for the past 9 months, so I hope and pray this will be the right solution.

I've got both boys' birthdays coming up within the next 2 weeks. Benjamin will be 6 and Matthew will be 1. Ugh, they grow too quick. I'm being lazy and only have 1 party for both of them, and I'm not making goodie bags (since when did those become of neccessity?). I'm sticking with cupcakes with army men on them. Maybe I'll be creative. Children will not be allowed inside, as they will be playing in the sprinklers outside. Seriously, I'm worn out.

My grandparents will be down Monday with 2 of my cousins I rarely get to see. My grandfather has already offered to help replace the frame on the back door with a lovely new PVC frame. I'll definately have to document this one via photos. I may go splurge on a screen door this weekend as well, though I don't think I want to spend my own play money on that.

So, if you don't hear from me for a while, just know that my schedule is insane.

  1. I got that same great storm last night -- caught me at the park with my dog. And today is pretty cool still, but oh boy, that heat is a-comin! I hope everything works out -- I'm sure it would be hard to have your little ones gone for weeks at a time! But you might have a nice break and they will love being with their grandparents.

  2. Busy girl!
Wow, weeks without the oldest! I don't know if I could do it. But at least he would be in good hands.

Early Happy Birthday to the boys! Goodie bags...whoever invented those should be hurt!

Neat that your grandfather is going to help you with that door!
