A Case of the Crazies

No, my family is not in town to visit, though I will be seeing them at the end of the week.

No, folks, both my boys have strepp throat. I took the youngest to the doctor Thursday for antibiotics, and got a call from the school nurse this morning saying my oldest was running fever. My wonderful hubby, who thankfully decided to take the whole week off, picked him up and checked the sickness situation. Fever? Check. Swollen lymph nodes? Check. Nasty red throat? Check. The only thing the child doesn't have are the white things in the back of his throat, though in all fairness he's never had that symptom. I've already called into the doctor to see if I really have to bring him in, or if they'll just write out a prescription for antibiotics. Let's hope it's the latter, because I've already surpassed my deductible in medical visits this year, and that $25 copay is gonna go a long way in helping with groceries if I can hold on to it.

Of course, this all happens the very week we are to go camping. It never fails, people. I'm the one who for almost 18 years woke up every Christmas morning sick. Now my boys have the curse. Unfortunately with them, it's every time we're supposed to go camping. I will not allow this to ruin my camping trip. Mommy needs a vacation. Bad. Between work, my impending graduation in a matter of weeks, and the fact that I cannot find a cave to live in, I need to hide. Oh, lets also add in the fact that we're facing SEVERE weather this weekend. Mother nature will not stop me, dammit!

We are going camping. Everyone will smile and have fun. I will enjoy myself, even if I have to kill someone to make that happen. Got it?

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I did not place at the art show Saturday. I didn't expect to. Fortunately, I can be happy for two of my friends who did place with their works. :)

  1. I remember telling my kids that they will have fun even if it kills me! Alas, they usually had fun and everyone lived to tell the tale! Hope all are well enough to camp and you guys have great fun!

  2. Well, I think your artwork is wonderful. Obviously, these people do not see the talent that I do.

I hope da boys feel better soon....usually those antibiotics'll have them feeling better in about 24 hours, right?

    Mommy needs a BREAK!

  3. Well, the oldest is on antibiotics and back at school. Thank you, God! Today is the hubby's birthday, so I probably won't be back in until next week. Have a glorious weekend!

  4. That nasty strep throught has been making its rounds. My sister has seven kids and five of them came down with it.

Dertermination is the name of the game! You are going to have a great time!

  5. Oh, man! Ain't that just a case of the suckies. My kids tend to get sick whenever we're heading somewhere cool but miraculously (and I do mean 'miraculously') they get better by the time we reach our destination. My hope is that the antibiotics will kick in with lightning speed. :)
