We had a wonderful weekend of rain and dreeriness. About 6 inches of it to be exact. There's nothing better than spending the weekend with a good cup of coffee and doing nothing. Well, I cleaned house and did laundry, but it wasn't that bad.
I took off from work Friday to help chaparone my oldest's field trip to the zoo. Thankfully, it didn't rain on us. Several hours and a zoo full of kindergarteners later, I was exhausted, but we had a blast. If you've never been to the Fort Worth Zoo, you must go. It's rated as one of the best in the nation, and for good reason. We got to visit the new Museum of Living Art that opened in February, that is a combination of herpitarium (reptiles and amphibians with some insects thrown in) and aquarium. I could have spent hours there, but the kids insisted on traversing across the entire length of the zoo to see the bats. I'm definately taking another trip out there this summer, when it's got fewer wild animals outside the barriers. :) If you are ever in the area, make a special trip to Fort Worth to see the zoo, Botanic Gardens, and the museums in the cultural district, plus me!
This Saturday is the art show at the college. There's some interesting stuff there, and my painting is at the end of a not well traversed area, so we'll see if anyone notices it. If not, my feelings won't be hurt. It still needs some touching up, and I've already decided to take another painting class in the fall. Ceramics is wrapping up quickly, and I have to have all my pieces built and glazed by next Saturday, so I'll be putting in some overtime this week and next to get it all done. I took pictures of my most recent stuff, but my husband finally decided to upload all the pics off the camera (dating back to October!) and onto his computer, so I can't upload them onto mine now. I'll take more this week and get them posted ASAP, because my cups came out really cool.
I'll be out of touch will you guys most of next week, as my camping trip is finally here! Yay!!!! Mommy needs a vacation badly, so I'm taking a couple of extra days off work to go. It's also my hubby's birthday and my grandparents' 25th wedding anniversary, so there will definately be some partying going on. I'll try to put up a special post for you all while I'm out, but no promises!
I'm looking forward to seeing your artwork! also, i've heard the ft worth zoo is fabulous so next time I'm up that way I hope to check it out. thanks for the tip. have a great camping trip!
ReplyDeleteHoller at me the next time you're in the area, and I'll give you the grand tour. :D
ReplyDeleteWho says rain puts a damper on everything? Glad you had a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteAhhh...vacation! That sounds heavenly after a day full of kids driving me insane! Congrats on the art show, and as for the potential lack of traffic, post up signs for free donuts with a bit arrow pointing your way. That'll bring 'em in. :)

I love going to the zoo, never been to the ft worth zoo.
ReplyDeleteTell your hubby to email those pics to you.
Have fun on your vacation!
Suzicate, I've always found that rainy days are the perfect excuse to curl up with a good book. Unfortunately, a clean house took presedence, but I'm happy when I walk in the door!
ReplyDeleteMindy, I LOVE your idea. I may just have to do that.
Heather, I do need to have him email the pics to me so I can get them up here. T-minus 7 days till vacation. I'm ready!
