Can someone please explain to me why, on the first day of SPRING in Texas, it's in the 30's and snowing? This makes absolutely no sense to me, but definately grateful I didn't plant anything outside last weekend.
So, instead of doing all the gardening and cleaning out the garage we had planned today, I spent the day cleaning the inside of the house. I have cleaned both bathrooms and the living room, plus 3 loads of laundry. Oh, and I ordered dinner.
I started out cleaning my bathroom. Now, I shed. A lot. Thankfully, a vacuum cleaner picks that up off a linoleum floor pretty easily. I spent a good hour scrubbing down my shower and bathtub, but they sparkle almost like new. All in all, it took me about 2 hours to get my bathroom clean, including scrubbing down the baseboards, which are magnets for roaming herds of dust bunnies.
I then decided to clean our front bathroom, which is used by pretty much everyone. OMG. I wish I owned a hazmat suit, because it looked like the lone bathroom in a frat house. I didn't take my cleaning gloves off once. I won't go into details, but needless to say, it was absolutely the most disgusting thing I've seen in quite a while. This is what happens when you have 3 guys living in one house, and one of them is 5. I think I might be scarred for life, but the bathroom is now nice and sparkly. Next time, the boy is scrubbing the toilet.
I now need to make a trip to Auto Zone. No, not now. When it warms up. I'm buying some of that Rain-X stuff and spraying my shower door down with it. Maybe the mirrors too.
I guess the nice thing about today is I haven't gotten out of my pajamas at all, and I've gone through almost 2 pots of coffee. I'm off to force convince someone to do the small load of dishes left in the sink. >:)
sounds like you did some serious spring cleaning, even if spring has seriously disappeared! I'm back in my longjohns under the covers with the heater on, while the wind howls outside the window. wtf is right!! I just hope all the seeds I planted last weekend aren't goners.
ReplyDeleteDreamfarm Girl, I'm glad someone got to spend the weekend under the covers, but at least you're warm.
ReplyDeleteI think if your seeds haven't sprouted yet, they should be good. Mine have sprouted and outgrown the growing containers. Now to keep them away from the cats.
For my plants sake I am grateful that we only got down to the freezing make for about a half hour. I surely has been a cold and rainy two days.
ReplyDeleteI also did some major cleaning today. Finally got my dresser in my room!
RainX on the mirrors, interesting! I can't believe I never thought of that.
Heather, glad you got your dresser in your room. Moving furniture is always a pain, and even harder if you don't have somewhere to put it. I speak from experience. lol
ReplyDeleteI have an award waiting for you over at my place.
ReplyDeleteWow...I'm very impressed that you were so ambitious about cleaning!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how disgusting the bath can become...and we don't even notice it? ICK.
We had a gorgeous weekend (in the 70's!) and now it's cold and raw and rainy. Mother Nature is very, very confused.
Kathryn, I noticed how dirty the bathroom was, but the problem is I don't use that bathroom hardly at all. I was hoping one of the other 3 people who use it to shower and whatnot would clean it, but I got my hopes a little too high.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a beautiful weekend. You need to come down here and thaw out!
I really need to Spring clean. I'm procrastinating about that as badly as organizing my writing. Instead of doing any of that I'm going to get away to the mountains for the weekend. Yeah, I know just one more excuse!
