I woke up to an inch of snow on the ground this morning. Now, some of you up north may be saying, "so what?" but snow here is rare. Usually we get ice, but there were giant snowflakes falling. This, of course, means that people freaked out. As my best friend put it, everyone's IQ fell by about 20 points when they got on the road this morning. All the meetings at work were canceled, and the boss won't be in until this afternoon, which means I am all by myself today. Woohoo!
All this snow and the falling temps means that my growing season is over. So sad. I still had tomatoes and peppers on the vines. Guess I need to pick all those when I get home and throw them in the freezer. I don't get it. Nothing started to fruit until the end of the summer, even though I planted at the end of March. The summer wasn't even that bad, since we only got up to 100+ about 20 days. Oh well. How's your day going?
Oh, I wish we would get some snow!!! I am TOTALLY one of those people whose IQ dives 40 points once frozen water hits the roads. I am responsible enough to say that no one wants me on the road in snowy conditions. I am happy to ride along (and slip Xanax if it gets really hair). Enjoy your day! =)

You must not be too far from me. We are getting the cold blast now, and we may have snow on Friday! It hardly EVER snows here. Pretty darn exciting. I'm hoping we get a snow day at work. I'm always so jealous of my colleagues in our other offices who get off for bad weather. But we never get off for our triple digit days, and they are pretty unbearable sometimes! on the down side, i have to bring in all my plants tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteWeatherman says we will have a 70% chance of snow friday, it's like the whole state of Texas comes to a screaching halt. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteAll of my plants died in the heat wave!
Mindy, please stay off the roads when it's icy! I become an absolute nut case myself. I decided to drive to work one morning a couple of years ago when it was snowy and icy out. Big mistake! What is normally a 15 minute drive took me an hour and a half, and I was nearly in tears. But, it was my first time to ever drive in the stuff, and probably my last.
ReplyDeleteDreamfarm Girl, I'm in Fort Worth, so I don't think I'm too far from you. We had to bring all the plants in last night, though I think it's too late. It was too cold to check the tomatoes and peppers, so they might be frozen by the time I get out there today. lol
Heather, I thought all my plants died in the heat wave too, but they came back. I had to put my tropical plants (really 2 trees in pots) in the shade because they were burning, but they did beautifully after that. Hubby did bring them in, but I think it might have been too late for them this time. :(
Sweetie, you are welcome to ALL our snow if you'd like it!
ReplyDeleteI think that's GREAT that they canceled everything, tho.....more free time for YOU!
Whee!
